Performance Background
Lisa began performing publicly as a cabaret singer aged fourteen before returning to her native London at eighteen to train professionally on the Actors Course at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts (ALRA).Her varied singing career has included jazz and easy-listening duos, live bands, tribute shows to Dusty Springfield and Julie London and original electronica and dance music projects, including a track featured on a bestselling Ministry of Sound album. Lisa has also worked as a session vocalist with acclaimed songwriter and producer Bruce Woolley, co-writer of Video Killed the Radio Star and Slave to the Rhythm, as well as appearing on ITV's Stars in Their Eyes as 1950s jazz singer Julie London. After taking time away from performing for family and caring responsibilities, Lisa returned to professional singing and launched her solo act in 2023. Since then, she has performed hundreds of engagements at venues and events across the South of England.Lisa's love of the music, nostalgia and style from past eras has deep family roots. Having older parents, she grew up surrounded by the songs from the Golden Age of music. Her mother worked as a couture dressmaker in 1950s London, while the name Lisa Locarno was inspired by the Streatham Locarno ballroom where her parents first met.
